Description
Implementation of a Safety Management System is a three day course. The training develops the four fundamental pillars of safety management by way of a structured system used to manage airport operations related risks.
The course, based on the safety management principles defined by ICAO, includes an introduction to the international regulatory framework, a review of the four basic pillars of an SMS, an introduction to the methods most frequently used to identify hazards and control risks, practical exercises and a written exam. A review of some real world situations is also performed in the programme to assimilate theory and practice.
General and Specific Objectives
Understand the legal framework and international regulations that apply to implementation of an airport SMS
Understand the usefulness and importance of safety and risk management to airport operations by way of a structured and systematic safety management system
Acquire the necessary knowledge and tools to develop and implement an airport SMS
Skills Acquired
At the end of the course attendees will be able to put into practice the four fundamental pillars of a safety management system and will have acquired basic hazard identification and risk control knowledge.
