Theoretical training in preparing to obtain local permission to drive on aircraft manoeuvring areas
Theory Exam
The course complies with the circular of 5 August 2010 in relation to training procedures for vehicle traffic at aerodromes

General and Specific Objectives
At the end of the course participants will be able to :
List the reference documents for traffic rules on the apron and aircraft manoeuvring areas
Give the order of priority between aircraft, emergency vehicles, passengers, buses and vehicle convoys
State the actions which an aircraft can take when its rotating beacons are functioning
Give the maximum number of trolleys and the maximum length in metres for towed equipment (trolley trains, dollies)
State the minimum clearance distance for a vehicle that wants to pass behind a jet engine exhaust
State the safety distance for pedestrians in front of the aircraft to avoid the jet engine intakes
State the minimum safety distance when driving around a fuel bowser
State the minimum safety distance between a GSM device and fuel tanks, refuelling lines or the tanks of fuel bowsers
State the colour of the lights used for aircraft taxiways on manoeuvring areas at night
State the colour of the lights used for the edges of manoeuvring areas
Describe the function of the apron
Describe the function of the manoeuvring area
Describe the function of the movement area
Recognise and explain the different meanings of the ground markings on the apron
Describe the function of the white lights at the front of the aircraft
Describe the actions to be taken when FOD is discovered
Describe the route to be taken if a refuelling line or 400 Hz power cable is encountered
Explain the function of a stop bar
Explain the meaning of the term “Link”
Describe the Aircraft Fire Safety Perimeter zone

Skills Acquired
Knowledge of aircraft aprons and how they operate. Knowledge of fundamental rules for driving on an apron, markings and applicable procedures.
Be able to comply with Appendix I to the circular of 5 August 2010 in relation to vehicle traffic training procedures at aerodromes.

 

Professional Context
Obtaining local permission from the airport where the trainee works to drive on aircraft manoeuvring areas.

Prerequisites
Works at or wishes to work at an airport
Sufficient level of linguistic capability

Qualification Issued
Training certificate. The course is eduQua certified.
Certificate of passing the theory exam on preparing to obtain local permission to drive on aircraft manoeuvring areas.
