Internal Audits – Methodology, Planning, Objectives, Organisation and Performance of Audits

Description
One of the requirements of a safety management system (SMS) is to demonstrate that the airport organisation has the ability to assess the implementation of its SMS itself by carrying out regular internal audits.

Internal audit methodologies can vary depending on the context of the organisation (e.g. its size) but they are all based on the same pre-requisites and procedures.

Continuous safety improvement at an airport undeniably requires internal audits to be performed. So that audits provide the sought-for added value, it is essential that audits are conducted in accordance with rules and principles which the auditor must apply to the person being audited.

The training course includes a description of these principles and procedures and practical workshops.

General and Specific Objectives
Become familiar with recognised auditing good practice (ISO 19001).
Lean how to apply these good practices in reality in an effective way.
Know how to prepare and perform an audit.
Learn how to formally record and communicate audit results in the form of a report.
Understand how to obtain added value from this report over time by preventing common risks which arise when it is applied.
Make it a shared resource and source of improvement to support the objectives and ambitions of the airport organisation.
Learn how to carry out an audit.

Skills Acquired
At the end of the training participants will be able to define the most appropriate methodology and audit procedures for their organisation, be able to produce documentation to be used for the audit and be able to then carry out an audit.
